At the THB hotels on Majorca and Lanzarote, guests are charged €1 if they require a fresh towel for the pool. This token charge symbolises the cost of washing a towel, and is intended to prevent unnecessary washes.
Two years ago, THB hotels decided to donate the money raised from each fresh towel change at its hotels to a not-for-profit organisation. This initiative is part of the chain’s ECO friendly drive, designed to encourage actions and habits that care for the environment.
On 24th April 2019, THB Tropical Island hotel (Playa Blanca, Lanzarote) donated all the money collected in 2018 as well as the amount raised so far in 2019 to CEAMAR, in recognition of its work to protect and conserve our seas and their marine life.
In the case of our Majorcan hotels, the amount raised in 2018 and 2019 was donated to the Tursiops Association during an event held at the THB Felip hotel (Porto Cristo, Mallorca). The mission of this organisation is to protect cetaceans and promote the dissemination of research into these mammals, with a particular focus on our surroundings, namely the western Mediterranean.
