THB HOTELS WORKING FOR SOCIAL AND LABOUR INCLUSION WITH PUPILS FROM THE APROSCOM FOUNDATION

THB hotels is working with the Aproscom Foundation as part of our commitment to Training and Corporate Social Responsibility, and in order to guarantee the preparation and inclusion of people with differing support needs in real workplace situations. Through this agreement, the pupils on the Catering Assistants Course can carry out their work placements at the chain’s hotels.

The Aproscom Foundation works for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities. It provides services, support and programmes in various areas that cover different phases of individuals’ lives in order to promote their inclusion in the community and improve their quality of life.

Thanks to this agreement, two pupils have completed an 80-hour work placement at the THB Sur Mallorca (Colònia de Sant Jordi) and THB Felip (Porto Cristo) hotels on Mallorca. Aged 16 and 21, they are part of the Specific Initial Skills Programme for Catering Service Assistants, targeting people with special education needs.  Over a 10-month period, the young people taking part in this course have received training in aspects such as preparing and presenting food services, installation cleaning and customer service.  

Neus Mascaró is the pupil who carried out her work placement at the THB Sur Mallorca hotel, where the team really enjoyed working with her. They highlighted her eagerness to learn, enthusiasm, constant cheerfulness and the ease with which she carried out all the tasks assigned to her. Despite some initial nervousness due to the responsibility involved, Cati, the hotel’s Catering Manager, now considers that the experience was extremely gratifying and would be happy to repeat it. She was particularly impressed by Neus’ motivation and her highly useful contribution to the various tasks and work procedures.   

Here at THB hotels, we believe in and trust everyone’s potential, which is why we are convinced that inclusion projects such as those run by the Aproscom Foundation are an excellent option. There are hundreds of young people just like Neus, eager to learn and form part of a real work environment. And at THB hotels there will always be a place for them.
