Right from the start, here at THB hotels we have been aware that our tourist activity takes place in prime locations and focuses on providing our customers with ongoing personalised service.
Fully aware of the responsibility this implies, we have implemented a management system in our hotels based on ISO 9.001 and ISO 14.001 international standards, at all times taking into consideration the commitments included in our Quality and Environmental Policy.
The Quality and Environmental Policy is intended to provide a benchmark to secure excellence in management standards and implement continued improvements to our activities in favour of a more sustainable world.
In this sense, we are working on an ongoing sustainability programme that encourages eco-friendly practices designed to reduce our impact on the environment. Our environmental strategy targets various areas: environmental education, environmental impact, as well as sustainable gastronomy and communication.
1.Environmental education. We organise awareness-raising activities targeting our customers, including activities such as beach cleaning, waste collection and the reduction of single-use plastics, as well as workshops based on topics such as recycling and communicating the dangers of the overuse of plastics. We have installed waste collection and sorting points for our customers and we participate actively in environmental programmes such as the Reconatura project.
2.Environmental impact. We are working hard in this area to minimise our impact on the environment. Actions include the introduction of a new cleaning plan that has reduced and practically eliminated the use of chemical cleaning products in our hotels. In this sense, we have also begun to use ozonated water in our hotels, thereby cutting out the need for chemical products in food disinfection processes, whilst at the same time achieving almost unbeatable standards of hygiene.
Recent renovation work at a number of THB hotels has been carried out in accordance with the objective of transforming them into efficient, smart buildings that are as eco-friendly as possible. This has involved the use of recycled building materials, as well as the inclusion of efficient technology and automated systems, as well as A+++ energy rated electrical installations, thereby contributing to environmental care and promoting more sustainable architecture.
We also intend to actively reduce plastic consumption and will therefore be introducing biodegradable materials in as many products for customer user as possible.3.Sustainable gastronomy. In order to reduce the carbon footprint generated by food transportation, we will select local suppliers with a proven eco-friendly track record in order to offer our customers locally-sourced produce. This year, the menus and drinks lists in our bars and restaurants feature dishes made with locally-produced ingredients, as well as local and/or organic wines.
4.Environmental communication. We undertake to inform all our staff and customers of THB Hotels’ commitment to environmental protection, including details of our responsible practices. We also provide our suppliers or collaborators with details of our environmental criteria, encouraging them to act along the same lines, helping us to comply with our undertakings.
