THB hotels receives the Ecostars sustainability certificate for its hotels

THB hotels is proud to announce that we have received the prestigious Ecostars certificate for our properties on Mallorca, Ibiza, Lanzarote and Costa del Sol.

This international accolade, which is awarded following a strict assessment process, certifies our commitment to sustainable tourism and respect for the environment.

About Ecostars

Ecostars is one of the world’s leading hotel-specific sustainability certifications, renowned for evaluating and certifying hotels that are committed to eco-friendly practices. Operating in more than 15 countries, its aim is to enable travellers to easily identify accommodation options that promote responsible tourism.

Evaluation axes

The Ecostars seal, which is endorsed by the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), classifies hotels on a scale of 0 to 5 green stars, based on their environment impact. This certificate is renewed every 3 years (unless the hotel requests an early evaluation following the introduction of an efficiency measure). At THB hotels, we have introduced a series of practices designed to minimize our ecological footprint and promote the wellbeing of both our guests and the planet. The aspects that are subject to evaluation include the following:

- Energy consumption (electricity and fuel) per stay, compared to the benchmark of similar hotels.

- Reduction in water consumption through optimized and responsible systems.

- Calculation and offsetting of CO₂emissions, through the UNFCCC’s Climate Neutral Now ® programme.

- Selective separation and recycling processes at collection points, communal areas and rooms, through Ecoembes®.

- Use of products from sustainable sources and the reduction of single-use plastics.

- Sustainable food.

- Establishment of ethical practices in human and labour relations, at guest and employee level.

The achievement is a further boost in our mission to deliver exceptional experiences to travellers, with the reassurance that their accommodation choices respect and care for the environment.
