THB hotels renews its commitment to marine conservation in partnership with Tursiops

At THB Hotels, we are reaffirming our commitment to protect the marine environment through our annual collaboration with Asociación Tursiops

This organization has dedicated itself to the study and protection of marine mammals on the Balearic Islands since 1998, setting a benchmark for the defence of the marine environment in our region. Their work centres around scientific research into species such as the bottlenose dolphin and the sperm whale, monitoring populations, habitats and threats to promote effective conservation strategies.

Last December, on our website thbhotels.com we launched the campaign “Boxing Day: holidays that inspire, seas that breathe”. Through this initiative we offered a 15% discount to everyone who booked their holidays for 2025 at any of our hotels. We are donating 5% of the total value of all bookings to Asociación Tursiops. And this is, in part, thanks to you.

Thanks to this campaign, we have managed to raise a total of €3,750 to donate. This donation will go towards research and conservation projects at Tursiops, specifically to repair a hydrophone that helps them identify marine mammals in the waters around the Balearic Islands, and to analyse their behaviour and the impact of factors such as noise pollution and marine traffic. The aim of this work is to implement management and protection measures for marine fauna in the Mediterranean, particularly the most vulnerable species.

The official donation ceremony was held on 19 February at the THB El Cid hotel in Playa de Palma (Mallorca). During the event, representatives from Tursiops expressed their gratitude and we had the opportunity to reinforce our commitment to protecting the oceans. As part of this commitment, we have agreed to renew our partnership with Tursiops for another two years, thus ensuring our continued support for their scientific and conservation work.

We will continue working on the objectives of our ECO Friendly project in 2025, promoting sustainability and responsible business practices that help to protect our planet. Our goal is to offer our customers holiday experiences that respect the environment and are in line with our values of social responsibility.
