THE FIRST CLASS OF THB COLLEGE’S DUAL PROFESSIONAL TRAINING PROGRAMME

Here at THB hotels we are fully aware that staff training makes a real difference.

Indeed, THB hotels has maintained an ongoing commitment to our employees’ career growth and development within the chain, focusing particularly on talent management as well as the need to identify and train the professionals that will guarantee the company’s continued future success.

One of the consequences of our commitment to training was the 2016 launch of our THB College project.


Today we continue to channel consolidated efforts and creativity into ensuring the development of all our work teams, tailoring the options to their training and skill requirements. We focus on their interests and ambitions, accompanying them on the road to success.

This combined social and training commitment has evolved into the Dual Training project, aimed at boosting employability and job opportunities for young people who, for a variety of reasons, experience difficulties in finding a niche on the labour market.

Our Dual project is considered a revolutionary tool for building up a talent bank of student-employees that alternate their academic training, shared jointly by the School of Tourism and THB College, with employment at THB hotels.

Dual Training is a new option within the field of vocational training (Formación Profesional or FP in Spanish). FP Dual projects are part of the education system that combines both in-company and classroom-based learning and teaching processes. The most popular format is to alternate periods between the education centre and the company, based on a variable number of hours or days, divided between in-company training and the classroom.  - Spanish Ministry of Education and Vocational Training

Our aim is essentially to build up a talent pool of outstanding professionals, providing them with opportunities to train and gain a first-hand insight the reality of the sector, thereby boosting their employability and enabling them to progress, exceed their expectations and plan their future hopes and ambitions.

On Thursday, 11th June, THB hotels and the Felipe Moreno School of Tourism celebrated the graduation of the first class of 19 students that have turned this project into a reality. Their determination, hard work and dedication to combining academic training and employment, tailored fully to posts in the chain’s hotels, have enabled them to form part of the first class of this Dual Training project.

The pioneering nature of this project lies in the fact that this is the first class of the ‘In Company’ Dual Vocational Training course, based on a brand new method of learning applied by the THB College training programme. THB hotels is involved at each stage of the process, from the start of the training actions to students’ insertion on the labour market, accompanying them at each step of their career development, and enabling them to form part of the THB hotels’ talent pool.

This joint venture between THB hotels and the School of Tourism has made it possible to introduce this combined method of academic training and job market insertion and is designed to provide workers with the professional skills they need, whilst at the same time offering them the opportunity to obtain work experience.

THB hotels would like to thank everyone that has been involved in this project and contributed to its success. A big thank you to the teaching staff at the School of Tourism, as well as the managers and employees at our hotels that have helped with the students’ training. We are also grateful to the company’s internal departments for their contribution, and especially to the 19 students who today receive our most heartfelt congratulations.
