At THB hotels, we are committed to the training and career development of future hotel sector leaders. In order to achieve this, we created THB College, a training centre designed to offer our students integral and practical teaching.
A few weeks ago, Tamara, a student on the “Expert in Hotel Management Course”, began her internship as an assistant manager at the THB Gran Bahía hotel on Mallorca. We recently had the opportunity to chat to her and ask about her experience on the course, as well as her impressions following her first few days working at the hotel. How did you hear about THB College’s “Expert in Hotel Management” course?I was studying a master’s degree in Hotel Management, and while I was looking for internship opportunities, I came across THB hotels and the courses offered by THB College. I sent in my CV and after that I started the course. What aspects about the course would you highlight? For me, the principal aspect I’d like to highlight is that the teachers are all professionals working in the sector. They do the things that they teach you, and the fact that they’re talking about their own experience and real life situations means that the content of the course is closely related to reality. How would you describe these first few days as an assistant manager at the THB Gran Bahía hotel?I was a bit nervous during the first week – there was a lot of information to take in. But the truth is I’m adapting really well, as the programme takes these aspects into consideration. We spend a week in each department. So far, I’ve been in housekeeping, as well as with the maître and supplies. This rotation gives you an insight into how each area of the hotel works, before moving into management. What are your expectations and goals for this new role?I’d love to have a career with the chain, and naturally, I’m excited about the possibility of becoming g a manager some day. But for the time being I’m focused on learning. I feel privileged to have this opportunity and for all the help and support I’ve received in order get where I am.Would you recommend the course?Definitely. You learn a lot – not just in the classes, but also you learn about what really goes on in a hotel, the day-to-day operations.Tamara’s experience during her internship as an assistant manager at the THB Gran Bahía reflects THB hotels’ commitment and the value it places on training professionals for the hotel sector. Her testimony is not only an inspiration for future students, but also highlights the importance of practical training in the hotel industry. Here at THB hotels, we intend to continue encouraging and guiding future leaders, in order to ensure that our hotels uphold their reputation for excellence in quality and service standards.
